This Atlassian Article talks about breaking down bigger tasks into smaller chunks.

I believe that you can only accomplish tasks when they are broken down into smaller, manageable chinks. This gives us clarity, piercing right through the brain fog generally cluttering our mind.

What this app does is it forces you to keep breaking down those big projects in your head into smaller achievable tasks. Then you give an estimate on each of those tasks in terms of number of Pomodoro's. This should help in tracking your progress in actual terms.

You need to break this big chunk of project in your head into small, concrete, trackable action items. This translates into what you will be doing in the immediate future (next half hour, or one hour). This takes away some cognitive load and puts you in motion. Sort of gamifying productivity.

Then you track them down, hopefully making progress in the correct direction.
